I noticed Amy (hiya! Amy) was following a blog called "The Grocery Cart Challenge". So I went and took a peek at it.
This woman feeds her family of SIX on $60 a week!! This also includes any paper products, toiletries, household supplies like t.p, lightbulbs, shampoo, etc. Basically she plans 7 breakfasts and 7 dinners for one week. Going off of what she currently has in her home. So say, she has 4 lbs. of hamburger in her freezer, and everything to make sloppy joes in her cupboards, but all she needs is the buns. She puts buns on her list, and there is a dinner! She doesn't clip coupons or stock up when she sees a really good sale, she ONLY buys what she needs to have for one week! She doesn't buy juice and they don't often drink milk. Her family mainly drinks water, and she makes up a gallon of lemonade and a gallon of iced tea once a week.
I am going to try this... I really don't think I could do $60 a week. I'm going to try $100 a week. Seriously...this will be a challenge. I'm always making short runs to the grocery store. I don't know what I am having for dinner most nights until 4 pm! My kids drink lots of juice and milk, and rarely drink water. Maybe if I succeed at my $100 a week, I can drop it down $10 a week the next month.
On another note... I got a call from the guy who interviewed me for the Dollar General. He left a call back number for me to call him today. I guess this means I probably have the job.
