I am Employed!!

I found out yesterday afternoon. They called me at about 3ish and asked if I could come down to talk to the district manager. I had no make up on, so I slapped on some make up, & told the kids to watch the baby.

They want me to come work today! My hours for this week are today 12-5, and tues-friday from 4-8!

I'm a bit nervous right now. I've never run a cash register before. I'm sure my first day will be tons of mistakes and learning. Hopefully I will catch on quickly!

Limbo

Well I don't think I'll be getting hired on permenantly. I'm kind of bummed out. Last night after work, the manager told me that they won't be needing me tomorrow. He is making all the final decisions on Friday. He is trying to convince the dist. manager to let him hire more employees. He's been told he can only hire 5 which includes himself. Yesterday we were down to 6, so me and another girl got cut. I'm sure they will be sticking with the 4 girls they have left. Unless by chance he will be able to hire more people.

I'm really bummed out. It was really nice to get out. I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did! Our little town really doesn't offer much for employment. I really don't know what I will do if I don't get hired on. It doesn't make since for me to commute anywhere for a low paying job. I really want to be close to home.

It'll all work out. I just hate not knowing.

Thrift Store

This morning I went to my favorite thrift store! I have been needing some clothes for awhile now. I have only 2 pair of jeans that fit, and almost all my shirts have stains on them. I got 5 shirts, 2 pants, 1 pair of jeans, 2 pair of shoes & a scarf for Naomi! And who says thrift stores aren't fashionable... some of the brands are Gap, Eddie Bauer, Old Navy, and Tommy Hillfigar (sp?) Oh and the best part... I spent... $24.04!!!!!!!!! I love the thrift store!
I took Naomi with me, and she was so super good. She is usually a huge handful. She found the shoe section and was having a great time trying on shoes and lining them up just right. Gotta love those moments when your 2 year olf behaves!

Procrastination...

I am horrible at procrastination! I'm sitting here on my 2nd cup of coffee, doing absolutely NOTHING this morning. I have lots to do though. Next week this time, I'll be getting ready to go to work. My house won't run properly if I'm not on top of things when I'm here. I just LOVE to be lazy. I do work hard, but I do let things go as long as I possibly can. What's that saying, "A clean house is the sign of a wasted life." My house is lived in. Ok, so I didn't do my dinner dishes last night. I have 2 loads of laundry that needs to be folded and put away and one load sitting in the wash. I will get it all done today and more. I'm really going to have to get things accomplished in a more timely manner though or I'll be going insane!

Ok, so It might not be so bad

I got the job. I'm not excited or sad about it. I just feel like it is neccessary. Something I have to do. Who knows... I may just really enjoy myself. I'm trying to go at it with an open mind.

Yesterday though, I was literally feeling sick about leaving Naomi. At $7/hr daycare would take half of my pay. The plan was to leave her home with my older children. They are really good with her. Heck at their ages I was a pro babysitter. I just felt bad, because they were also needing to get their studies done. So the vision I had in my mind was that Naomi would be sat in front of the tv all day.

So my dh and I were talking. Since he is on commission only, he is going to do as much work as he can from home via telephone and computer. That he'd take Naomi with him to job sites when he needed to. Another salesman had told him when his daughter was young she would go with him lots of times. Who knows...his sales might increase! She is awfully cute. I also think she'd LOVE it! She loves her dad! And getting out and about and seeing the world around her is much better than sitting in front of a tv screen all day!

So I feel much better. I am still going to try and get the kids through the rest of this school year. If it takes me working nights and weekends with them, then that's what I'll do. Eva our 7 year old will more than likely go to public school this next fall. She requires the most one on one time with me. If the older kids can prove themselves the rest of this school year then we'll continue with them at home.

So far that's the plan.

The Grocery Cart Challenge

I noticed Amy (hiya! Amy) was following a blog called "The Grocery Cart Challenge". So I went and took a peek at it.

This woman feeds her family of SIX on $60 a week!! This also includes any paper products, toiletries, household supplies like t.p, lightbulbs, shampoo, etc. Basically she plans 7 breakfasts and 7 dinners for one week. Going off of what she currently has in her home. So say, she has 4 lbs. of hamburger in her freezer, and everything to make sloppy joes in her cupboards, but all she needs is the buns. She puts buns on her list, and there is a dinner! She doesn't clip coupons or stock up when she sees a really good sale, she ONLY buys what she needs to have for one week! She doesn't buy juice and they don't often drink milk. Her family mainly drinks water, and she makes up a gallon of lemonade and a gallon of iced tea once a week.

I am going to try this... I really don't think I could do $60 a week. I'm going to try $100 a week. Seriously...this will be a challenge. I'm always making short runs to the grocery store. I don't know what I am having for dinner most nights until 4 pm! My kids drink lots of juice and milk, and rarely drink water. Maybe if I succeed at my $100 a week, I can drop it down $10 a week the next month.

On another note... I got a call from the guy who interviewed me for the Dollar General. He left a call back number for me to call him today. I guess this means I probably have the job.
